Television funding and commercial partnerships
Close the funding gap. Build more value around the programme.
Film TV Group works with television producers, production companies and channels to prepare suitable opportunities, qualify private investors and introduce capital against a clearly defined production shortfall.
Where appropriate, we can also explore brand partnerships, product placement and talent-led sponsored content that extends the commercial potential of the production.
Every project is reviewed individually. Funding is subject to due diligence, investor interest, agreed documentation and final approval.
The funding challenge
A commission does not always cover the complete production budget.
Depending on the programme and its commercial structure, a production company may need to assemble additional finance from distributors, international pre-sales, production incentives, commercial partners and third-party capital.
Film TV Group provides a private route to prospective investors who are interested in carefully selected film and television opportunities.
We work with the production team to understand the programme, the confirmed finance, the remaining shortfall and the proposed investor structure before an opportunity is presented.
Not a deck sent to a database.
We first establish whether the project is sufficiently developed, whether the finance requirement is clearly defined and whether the opportunity can be presented to investors in a credible and understandable way.
One coordinated approach
Funding introductions and wider commercial development.
Production Funding
We review the defined production shortfall and identify prospective investors whose interests, investment range and preferred timescale may be relevant.
Depending on the project, one investor or a group of investors may be capable of covering part or all of the shortfall.
Subject to project review, due diligence, investor interest, agreed structure and completion documentation.
Investor Qualification
Before making an introduction, we seek to understand the prospective investor's profile, relevant experience, preferred investment level, areas of interest, readiness to review an opportunity and likely decision timeframe.
We conduct investor due diligence, including know-your-client (KYC) and anti-money laundering (AML) checks, so that introductions are made with appropriate information and care.
We then introduce relevant parties so that further questions, due diligence and documentation can be handled directly.
Commercial Partnerships
We can explore suitable ways to build additional commercial value around the programme, subject to the rights, format, editorial requirements and approvals connected to the production.
- Brand partnerships
- Product placement
- Programme sponsorship
- Talent-led sponsored podcasts
- Sponsored YouTube content
- Supporting digital and social content
All commercial activity remains subject to producer, broadcaster, platform, rights-holder and talent approval.
The process
From initial review to qualified introduction.
- 01
Initial Conversation
We speak with the producer, production company or channel to understand the programme, its current status and the funding or commercial requirement.
- 02
Opportunity Review
We review the production company, rights position, budget, confirmed finance, funding shortfall, production timetable and proposed investor structure.
- 03
Investor Preparation
We help organise the information needed to explain the production, funding requirement, commercial structure, potential revenue participation and material risks.
- 04
Investor Outreach
We identify and approach prospective investors whose profile, interests and likely investment level may be relevant to the opportunity.
- 05
Qualification and Introduction
We establish genuine interest and readiness before introducing suitable prospective investors to the production team and its professional advisers.
- 06
Due Diligence and Completion
The parties can then progress questions, legal and financial due diligence, documentation and completion. Film TV Group does not make the investment decision for either party.
What we need to review
To determine whether a project may be suitable for presentation to investors, we will usually need to understand the following:
- The production company and relevant track record
- Ownership or control of the necessary rights
- The current broadcaster, platform or distributor position
- The complete production budget
- The amount of the funding shortfall
- The proposed use of investor capital
- Existing and confirmed sources of finance
- The proposed investor structure
- The recoupment and revenue waterfall
- Production and delivery milestones
- Material production and commercial risks
- Supporting agreements and legal documentation
- Talent attachments and relevant participation agreements
- Any proposed brand, sponsorship or product placement rights
Our review helps determine whether an opportunity may be suitable to present to prospective investors. It is not an endorsement, guarantee of funding or substitute for legal, financial or commercial due diligence.
Beyond the production budget
Extend the programme beyond the screen.

Brand Partnerships
Identify businesses with a natural connection to the programme's audience, subject matter, locations, contributors or talent.
Product Placement
Explore appropriate on-screen or production integration, where editorially suitable and permitted by the broadcaster or platform.
Sponsored Podcasts
Develop complementary podcast concepts involving available cast, presenters, contributors or members of the creative team.
YouTube and Digital Content
Explore sponsored behind-the-scenes, interview, educational or companion content that can extend reach beyond the original broadcast.
These services are considered individually. Availability depends on the project, applicable advertising and broadcasting rules, contractual rights, talent participation and the approval of all relevant parties.
Suitable opportunities
We are particularly interested in developed, commercially credible television projects.
Our current focus includes independently produced unscripted television for UK and US broadcasters, platforms and streaming services.
- Factual entertainment
- Documentaries
- Competition formats
- Lifestyle programming
- Reality
- Specialist factual
- Returning formats
- Talent-led programming
We prioritise projects with an identifiable production company, a clearly defined budget, control of the necessary rights, a credible route to broadcast or distribution and a specific funding requirement.
Submitting a project does not guarantee acceptance, investor presentation or funding.
The Film TV Group approach
We do not simply circulate opportunities. We work to understand the production, prepare the information and establish genuine investor interest before making an introduction.
The aim is to give producers access to relevant private capital while giving prospective investors a clearer, properly presented opportunity to assess.

Tell us where the project stands.
If you have a commissioned, optioned or advanced television project with a defined funding shortfall, or want to explore commercial partnerships around an existing production, send us a short overview.
An initial conversation is confidential and does not commit either party.
